Kitchen Vent Technical Ltd (KVT) has successfully completed the design and installation of a bespoke kitchen ventilation system at Hillier’s newly opened garden centre in the historic grounds of Syon Park, West London. The project was undertaken in collaboration with Stangard Design Solutions, who led the development of the kitchen and restaurant facilities on-site.

A Challenging Heritage Site
The project presented unique challenges. The internal kitchen structure offered minimal height, while external aesthetics and acoustic considerations were paramount due to the heritage status of the site. KVT’s involvement was vital in ensuring that the kitchen’s ventilation system met the strict architectural and environmental demands.
Tailored Engineering for a Heritage Setting
KVT addressed the spatial limitations by designing a shallow-section canopy from its standard product range, alongside matching low-profile supply-air terminals, to ensure optimal airflow within the tight ceiling space. Externally, KVT installed low-noise ductwork and rooftop fans, cleverly concealed behind an existing parapet wall. This approach drastically reduced both visual and auditory impact for visitors to Syon Park.
Full-length stainless steel splashbacks were also fitted behind Stangard’s main cookline, offering a hygienic and durable finish to complement the high-spec kitchen equipment.
Beyond Installation: Performance & Compliance
Following installation, KVT engineers returned to site to verify system performance, balance airflow, and program the fan speed inverter. They also calibrated the gas interlock system to ensure compliance with BS6173 and DW172 standards. A full demonstration was then provided to the client to confirm system functionality and ease of use.
